Solidarity Cafe – Rural Prisons in NY
July 21, 2013/
You are cordially invited to the Alternatives Library for “Solidarity Café”, an event in support of political prisoners at Alternatives Library.
This week, Jack Norton will be joining us to share his research on prison towns in upstate New York. How was it that rural prisons came to be a major economic development program in New York State? What institutions are involved in prison expansion and prison closures, and how are local communities affected?
We will be serving delicious locally roasted coffee, a variety of delicious herbal, green, and black teas.
Join us in conversation about the institutional and social impact of upstate’s prison landscape.
